The VSEW mk4 8g offers an ultra-low noise floor (110 μg RMS) ideal for DIN4150-2 compliance and ground vibration monitoring.
The Vibration Meter Data Logger – VSEW_mk4 – 40g is a high-range model in the VSE series of smart vibration dataloggers. It records accelerations, vibrations, velocities and inclinations. It includes a 3-axis MEMS accelerometer, an accurate date/time clock and a non-volatile 128 Mb recording memory.
Depending on the settings it can record acceleration or velocity signals and/or RMS levels for months. Its very small size (65 g) allows it to be attached to, or embedded within, the monitored equipment.
New in the VSEW mk4
- Virtual COM port interface for custom application integration (see VSEW_mk4 Com Protocol)
- WiFi™ auto-fallback to any open access point ("W" model only)
- Email alerts to multiple addresses ("W" model only)

- Road shipment monitoring and vibration recording
- Medium-range vibration recording
- Long-term measurement of acceleration signals, velocity signals, statistics (peaks & average) and RMS levels
- Continuous monitoring of machinery wear

Road Shipment Monitoring
Record vibrations and shocks during road transport and trucking. The ±40 g range captures the acceleration events typical of package handling and vehicle vibrations without clipping.
Machine Condition Monitoring
Attach to rotating equipment, motors, compressors or industrial machinery to track wear over time. The velocity measurement capability and 100% duty rate give you complete vibration profiles for predictive maintenance.
Medium-Range Vibration Recording
Record vibrations and accelerations in the medium range (up to ±40 g) that would saturate the 8g model. Ideal for environments with occasional higher shocks alongside normal vibration levels. For seismic monitoring, we recommend the VSEW mk4 8g with its lower noise floor and DIN4150-2 support.
Remote & Cloud Monitoring
Pair with the 24/7 Cloud Data Access for real-time wireless monitoring. WiFi email alerts notify you instantly when vibration thresholds are exceeded at remote sites.
Why choose the ±40 g range?
The ±40 g range is the sweet spot for road shipment monitoring and machine vibration. It captures the acceleration events typical of truck transport (5–15 g), package handling (10–30 g) and medium-impact industrial vibrations — without the reduced sensitivity of the ±200 g model. For lower-amplitude structural monitoring, consider the VSEW mk4 8g.
Road shipment monitoring best practices
Place the VSEW mk4 40g inside or firmly attached to the package being monitored. Use the Timer Start feature to begin recording at a scheduled departure time. The 128 Mb memory records weeks of statistics at 1-minute intervals, giving you a complete vibration profile of the entire road journey.
Velocity measurement capability
Unlike basic accelerometers, the VSEW mk4 40g calculates velocity in real time from the acceleration signal. Velocity is the preferred metric for many machine condition monitoring standards and provides a direct indicator of machinery health and bearing wear.
100% duty rate — why it matters
Many competing vibration loggers sample intermittently, potentially missing short-duration events. The VSEW mk4 40g records every single sample with zero gaps. For road shipment monitoring, this means no shock event goes unrecorded — critical for insurance claims and damage investigations.
Choosing the right dynamic range
Dynamic range determines the maximum acceleration the sensor can measure. The ±8 g model is ideal for low-amplitude structural vibrations and DIN4150-2 compliance. The ±40 g model covers road shipment and machine monitoring. The ±200 g model handles extreme impacts, drops and crash testing. All models share the same form factor, software and connectivity — only the sensor range and noise floor differ.
